KIRIS SYSTEM SETS
KIRIS (Key Impeller Removal & Installation System) – US Patented Product
KIRIS (Key Impeller Removal & Installation System) was invented by Key Pump and Gear, LLC. The system was designed to ensure proper removal of the impeller to prevent damage to the vanes. The tool is designed so that it engages multiple points along multiple vanes of the impeller, distributing the force applied when removing or assembling the impeller. This distribution of pressure ensures that an impeller is never distorted or imbalanced due to the excessive strain placed on a single vane. This tool is used in the assembly phase of a rebuild to ensure the impeller is properly seated and torqued to help prevent leakage past the impeller gasket thereby eliminating the chance of liquids getting into the threads of the impeller which could cause damage to both impeller and the shaft.
Open impellers have no outer cover blocking their vanes, which makes them easier to access. They are also more fragile than closed impellers as a result of being exposed. It is vital to treat them with care, to avoid damage that can spread to the rest of the pump, and create a vibration that wears the machinery down over time. Imprecise tools not meant for this job are harder on the components and also increase the chances of harming the machinery.
This set of wrenches has two options for use on different types of impellers. One wrench is designed to work with impellers that have an odd number of vanes, and the other can fit an even number of vanes. This allows for smooth removal without damaging the vanes or the rest of the impeller. This complete kit also includes three shaft input sockets in different sizes to ensure that you can fit any standard ANSI vertical or horizontal pump. When you use them, loosening the impeller from its position becomes a simple and manageable task. The square edges on all of the tools in this kit make them compatible with crescent wrenches, resulting in an easier job. Protect your pump from damage and protect your hands from cuts by choosing specialty pump repair tools.
The closed impellers found in heavy-duty pumps are known for being difficult to clean and fix. The walls on both sides of the vanes create a closed-off area that can be hard to access. This difficulty means it is important to use tools that are up to the task of dealing with this specialized part of a centrifugal pump. Maintain your pumps and avoid damage to the pump shaft or impeller components that can occur from using improper tools.
This wrench set is designed for the specific task of dealing with removing or installing the closed impellers, allowing artisans to get their work done more easily. The toolset reduces the risk of injury by allowing you to extract parts that are damaged, without cutting yourself on sharp edges or damaging the equipment. You can easily apply torque while you use the wrenches since they stay in place and leave your hands free for other tasks. The wrenches put even pressure on the impeller and allow for a clean, simple detachment from the rest of the pump.
The kit includes three wrench sizes that can fit all seven of the most common pump dimensions. Another important feature is the three-piece input shaft socket set, including keys, that allows you to fit all the standard ANSI sizes for input shafts.
The input shaft sockets are designed to properly hold the drive end of the pump shaft while removing or installing the impeller. This tool is designed to apply enough torque on the shaft to properly install or remove the impeller without scoring or otherwise damaging the input shaft or impeller. The input shaft socket set is compact enough to be stored in the mechanic’s toolbox so they are always handy. The input shaft sockets are designed to be used only with the mechanic’s hand tools (combination wrenches, Crescent wrench, etc.) to tighten or loosen impellers from the shaft. The wrenches and sockets are made of high-quality steel for long tool life when properly cared for.
Use a tool designed by experienced tradesmen to do the job right. Don’t take chances of damaging impellers and setting up a vibration which prematurely destroys your expensive rotating equipment. Don’t risk damaging input shafts and coupling hubs which leads to premature bearing and seal failure by not using the proper tool for the job.
Our system has been developed by skilled tradesmen that make their living repairing, rebuilding, and assembling rotating equipment. Every mechanic and repair shop should have the KIRIS in their arsenal of essential tools. This system should make your customers feel more confident having you work on their expensive equipment knowing that you care enough to use the correct tool for the job.
